FanDuel Group Announces Investment in an Illinois Racetrack, Which Includes Adding a Sportsbook

FanDuel Group, an online gaming company, has announced plans to make a multi-million-dollar investment in Fairmount Park Racetrack in Collinsville, Illinois. Under the terms of the agreement, the 95-year-old track will be rebranded as FanDuel Sportsbook and Horse Racing. 

“We are delighted to partner with Fairmount Park to continue bringing high quality horse racing and soon additional entertainment experiences via our sportsbook to the region,” said Matt King, Chief Executive Officer of FanDuel Group. 

The capital improvements, addition of a retail sportsbook and the new horse racing events are part of a modernization plan that will serve as “a driver of economic growth for the region providing new jobs in the entertainment and hospitality sector.”

This is FanDuel Group’s first investment in a racetrack.

Online Betting Entertainment and Technology Company Appoints Dennis Drazin to Board of Directors

PlayUp has announced that Hall of Famer Dennis Drazin has joined the PlayUp Board. According to a press release, Drazin will work directly with PlayUp CEO-USA Dr. Laila Mintas to “drive the USA business and support the company with its global growth strategy.”

Drazin is the Chairman and CEO of Darby Development LLC, the operator of the largest Racetrack in New Jersey (Monmouth Park). The track made history when it took the first legal sports wager by Governor Phil Murphy on June 14, 2018. For decades, Drazin has been an advisor to the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and became Chairman of the New Jersey Racing Commission in 2009.  

Drazin was instrumental in the repeal of PASPA, which led to the legalization of sports betting across the USA. For his personal achievements, he was inducted into the Sports Betting Hall of Fame in 2019. 

Philadelphia 76ers Announce BetMGM as an Official Sports Betting Partner

The Philadelphia 76ers has announced that BetMGM, a sports betting and digital gaming company, has become an Official Sports Betting Partner of the team. This follows BetMGM’s recent mobile launch in Pennsylvania. 

The partnership features TV-visible signage including BetMGM’s logo on the pole pads during 76ers games, and fan-focused engagement campaigns including promotions within the official 76ers application and 76ers-branded casino games, to name a few.

“This partnership will give us the ability to connect with our fans on the digital channels where they spend their time through customized 76ers branded games and activations,” said Katie O’Reilly, 76ers Chief Revenue Officer. “BetMGM will also propel us into a new space, strategically targeting fans in the sports betting and gaming realm.”

As an Official Sports Betting Partner of the Philadelphia 76ers, BetMGM will be featured across all 76ers digital and social platforms including the official 76ers mobile app. The sports betting and digital gaming company will also have prominent signage at the arena during 76ers games including the pole pads beneath the baskets, which will be seen on television broadcasts.

The Drone Racing League and DraftKings Announce Official Sports Betting Agreement 

The Drone Racing League (DRL), the global, professional drone racing property, has announced a deal with DraftKings Inc. to make the sports technology and entertainment company an Official Sports Betting Partner of DRL. 

Upon completion of this deal, DRL drone races became the first aerial sporting event upon which fans can wager, according to the league. Mobile sports betting on DRL drone races is currently legal in Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, and West Virginia with regulatory approvals pending in additional states. 

“The sky is now the limit for DRL fans to get skin in the game, and we’re thrilled to partner with DraftKings to transform our high-speed race competition into the ultimate sport to bet on,” said DRL President Rachel Jacobson. “The opportunity for us to elevate our engagement through all forms of gaming and gambling will only increase as mobile betting becomes more adopted across the country.”

DraftKings bills itself as a leader in “the rapidly growing motorsports and esports sportsbook categories and believes DRL will bring an entirely new audience of fans to gaming.”

This deal gives DraftKings exclusive marketing rights around sports betting and branding integrations, including custom gates, through the culmination of the current 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship Season. Both pre-race wagers and in-race live bets will be available for fans in approved states to engage before and during the race action.
